We start every expansion by analyzing demand in the local language. We research keywords separately for each market, because a translated Polish keyword often does not match how local customers search. Then we assess the competition in the local version of Google and the effort needed to reach the first page of results.
URL structure
We choose between a country-code domain, a subdomain and a language directory on your current domain. A directory benefits from the authority of the main domain. A country-code domain sends a stronger local signal, but its links have to be built from scratch. We base the decision on your budget and plans for further markets.
Hreflang and language versions
Each language version gets hreflang tags that point to its equivalents. Hreflang errors, such as missing return links, cause Google to show users the wrong version of a page. We check them in crawls and in Google Search Console.
Local content and links
We write content around local keywords and realities: currency, units, payment and delivery methods. We acquire links from websites in the given country, because links from Polish sites do little for local rankings.
Questions about international SEO
Should content be translated or localized?
Localized. Translation alone is not enough: content has to reflect the local keywords, search intent and cultural context of the given market.
What is hreflang?
It is a markup of a page’s language and region that helps Google show the right language version to the right users. It is essential in international SEO.
Which markets should you choose?
We help you decide based on sales potential, competition and your export goals.
Do you cover Bing and Yandex?
Yes, where they matter in a given market, e.g. Yandex in eastern markets.
How long does international SEO take?
As with nationwide SEO, results build up over several months, depending on the market and competition.
Is one .com domain enough for several markets?
Yes, if each market has its own language directory with correct hreflang. This setup is easier to maintain than several domains. A country-code domain makes sense when you plan a separate, strong brand in a given market.
Can machine translation be used?
Yes, as a draft. Before publication, the text must be edited by someone who knows the language and the market, and keywords have to be checked against local search data. An unverified translation usually misses how customers actually search.
